If you feel something is missing from a list, you could let the Mint team know: - most of the lists haven't been updated in a long time. The lists Software Manager uses are in /usr/share/linuxmint/mintinstall/categories/ - anything not on the list won't be displayed as part of a category in Software Manager, you can only see it by searching for it. Mostly correct, except the lists contain only the package names, and they are maintained by the Linux Mint team, not Ubuntu. The Software Manager is simply a showcase. If you need to see more than what the software manager shows you then use Synaptic. The official description for Noiz2sa is 'abstract shootem up game', and indeed it is. The point being, if the Ubuntu repository maintainers don't add the program's pretty icons, pictures and descriptions to this separate list then they don't appear in the software manager's pretty list of icons, pictures and descriptions. The appearance of a particular program in the software manager's pretty list of icons, pictures and descriptions depends entirely on a separate list provided by the Ubuntu repository maintainers. You have searched for packages that names contain noiz2sa in all suites. While the replies you've had attempt to explain the issue, they don't get there and miss the point, IMBO. Search in specific suite: bionic bionic-updates bionic-backports focal. Is there a way to have all install-able software displayed within the software manager? I've a simple question (I did a search and I didn't see a similar topic so apologies if this is a duplicate question) I've noticed there is seemingly a lot of software that can be installed via the software manager when searched for, but aren't displayed in the standard list (an example if the Kenta Cho games torus trooper, noiz2sa etc). I do not know of anything that can list all possible installable applications in the main repositories without also showing the other packages, and even if there is, do you really want a list of 50,000+ applications? One reason I really like the "Synaptic Package Manager (SPM)" is that while installing anything I can check the bottom to see if anything I try to install shows up in the "broken" column then I can unselect (not install) that package and prevent problems. ![]() There is no recent update for this package. When you first bring up the "Synaptic Package Manager (SPM)" you are seeing all the 50,000+ packages available to install in alphabetical order and you can sort by heading columns, search for applications, select a category on the left, etc.īut, as was already stated some are support packages for other "parent" applications, some are for programming language environments, and some will conflict with other installed applications or cannot be installed without breaking the system. Other versions of 'noiz2sa' in Bionic No other version of this package is available in the Bionic release. I just read your post and the good replies to it.
